Description
A creamy and delightful pink pasta perfect for Valentine’s Day.
Ingredients
Scale
- 12 ounces pasta (fettuccine or spaghetti)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 can (14 ounces) crushed tomatoes
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Fresh basil, for garnish
- Optional: Red pepper flakes for heat
Instructions
- Cook the Pasta: In a large pot of salted boiling water, cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- Sauté Aromatics: In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and chopped onion, sautéing until they are soft and fragrant, about 3-4 minutes.
- Pour in the crushed tomatoes and stir. Allow the mixture to simmer for about 5 minutes, letting the flavors meld.
- Reduce the heat to low, then add the heavy cream, stirring until fully combined. This will give the sauce its beautiful pink color.
- Add sugar, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper to taste. Let the sauce simmer for an additional 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Add the drained pasta to the sauce, tossing gently to coat the pasta evenly.
- Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese until melted and combined.
- If the sauce is too thick, add a splash of pasta water to reach your desired consistency.
- Remove from heat and serve hot, garnished with fresh basil and additional Parmesan cheese if desired.
Notes
- For extra heat, consider adding red pepper flakes when serving.
- This dish pairs well with a simple green salad.
