Description

Delicious chocolate pecan rolls with a rich filling that are perfect for breakfast or dessert.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup whole milk, warm
  • ¼ cup cocoa powder
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup chopped pecans (lightly toasted)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for drizzling)
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix warm milk and granulated sugar. Sprinkle yeast on top and let sit for about 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. Stir in softened butter, eggs, and vanilla extract until combined.
  3. Gradually add flour and cocoa powder to form a soft dough. Knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth.
  4. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm spot until doubled in size (about 1 hour).
  5. For the filling, mix brown sugar, cocoa powder, chopped pecans, and melted butter in a separate bowl.
  6. Roll out the risen dough into a rectangle (¼ inch thick), spread the filling evenly, roll tightly from one side, and slice into rolls.
  7. Place rolls in a greased baking dish to rise again for 30 minutes.
  8. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.

Notes

  • These rolls are best served warm.
  • You can drizzle the powdered sugar on top once cooled for an extra sweet touch.
