- 1 lb ground beef
- 2 cups elbow macaroni
- 1 medium yellow onion, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (14 oz) diced tomatoes
- 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 bay leaf
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- In a large pot, heat oil over medium heat and sauté chopped onion until soft.
- Add minced garlic and cook for 1 minute.
- Add ground beef, break it up with a spoon, and cook until browned. Drain excess grease if necessary.
- Stir in diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, Worcestershire sauce, Italian seasoning, paprika, salt, pepper, and bay leaf. Simmer for 10 minutes.
- Pour in beef broth and elbow macaroni. Stir, bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer uncovered for 12–15 minutes until pasta is tender.
- Remove the bay leaf. Let the goulash rest for a few minutes before serving to thicken slightly.
Notes
- For a spicier version, add red pepper flakes.
