Description

This classic goulash recipe is hearty and comforting, perfect for family dinners.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 2 cups elbow macaroni
  • 1 medium yellow onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (14 oz) diced tomatoes
  • 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, heat oil over medium heat and sauté chopped onion until soft.
  2. Add minced garlic and cook for 1 minute.
  3. Add ground beef, break it up with a spoon, and cook until browned. Drain excess grease if necessary.
  4. Stir in diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, Worcestershire sauce, Italian seasoning, paprika, salt, pepper, and bay leaf. Simmer for 10 minutes.
  5. Pour in beef broth and elbow macaroni. Stir, bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer uncovered for 12–15 minutes until pasta is tender.
  6. Remove the bay leaf. Let the goulash rest for a few minutes before serving to thicken slightly.

Notes

  • For a spicier version, add red pepper flakes.
